Volcano eruption triggers tsunami advisory for Bay Area coast

An undersea volcano erupted in spectacular fashion near the Pacific nation of Tonga on Saturday, sending large tsunami waves crashing across the shore and people rushing to higher ground. A tsunami advisory was issued for the U.S. Pacific coast, including the San Francisco Bay Area.

  2. Some more erosion to areas where the sea walls are compromised. Those who had built housing too close to the shoreline paid a hefty price a few years ago as the integrity of the cliffs gave way to the surf and were swallowed up by the sea.Even after the engineers and inspectors went house to house, red tagging or condemning them, some wanted to tough it out and wait for that next big wave.Insane.

  3. I am glad our emergency services entities have a plan for these kinds of things. The sad truth is more people in Kalifornia will be inconvenienced by "Looky Loos" and traffic than the actual Tsunami.
