IMO, Putin is unhinged and would be willing to nuke several countries if they don't give him concessions . The negotiations should include first and foremost immediate ends to the civil war. President zelensky does have several remaining assets on his side . 1) He controls the loyalty and political leanings of millions 2) Zelensky has the sympathy of almost all NATO countries 3) Zelensky controls some remaining Ukraine territory . Zelensky should consider giving Putin a portion of Ukraine that will give Putin the buffer from NATO weapons (Poland /Estonia /all eastern Europe ) . In exchange Zelensky must demand that the remaining portion of Ukraine be protected from any/all influx of Russian political/financial/military influence for not less than 200 years . Also the new Ukraine should be seemed an 'Ally' to the NATO nations and a member of the UN and possible create a new alliance of democratic countries and name it after the creation of free Ukraine and their people's . Putin must also agree to fuel the energy needs of this nation at a marginal rate over try cost per barrel of oil as if January 1, 2019 (pre-covid) . (Condition 6): If Donbass area becomes an independent Russian speaking country in future, then future cash strapped Donbass will not sell military bases in exchange for cash from NATO – OTAN group.
